Without stress life would be boring. Stress keeps us going adding challenge and opportunity to life. Between balancing work and family and traumatic events, stress can definitely take its toll. Too much stress can seriously affect your physical and mental well being.

Stress affects all of us to some extent, and what is stressful for one person may not be for another. while there are many factors that contribute to stress in our lives, we are not defenceless against its influence. We can significantly increase out tolerance for stress and reduce its adverse physiological effects.

Proper nutrition builds surprising stress resistance. Eliminating caffeine, sugar, alcohol and food additives and refined grains and flours will give your body real energy from nutritious foods not stimulants. During times of stress the digestive system shuts down, so take time to eat slowly and mindfully. Chew well don’t eat foods that give you indigestion, heartburn and bloating, use digestive enzymes if necessary. The liver governs both digestion and elimination so support it with dandelion, milk thistle and greens. Ruduce the livers burden by choosing clean foods.

Exercise is a fantastic way to diffuse stress. Exercise brings oxygen to tight muscles and devitalized organs. It increases circulation and sweating is good for detoxification. Nutrients flow better through the blood and the energy production of cells is increased. It relieves stress by using up excess cortisol, your stress hormone.

Stress affects people of all ages. Make time time for family and friends , join a club. Laughing lowers the stress hormone and strengthens the immune system. The bad habits people use to relieve stress such as smoking, drinking, or eating contribute to more stress in the long run. These impulse activities give you a quick gratifying feeling by activating reward centres in the brain. Later on you will have to deal with the consequences of your actions.
