Hypertension

Although Hypertension is not an obvious symptom it is extremely important to address before it becomes a heart attack. Although there are no symptoms beyond a high reading at the doctor office, high blood pressure has a multitude of negative effects on the body. It stresses and damages the blood vessels and eventually weakens the heart. It needs to be taken seriously and addressed before causing irreversible damage.

Salt is widely thought to be a main contributor to high blood pressure. Which is not entirely true. Whole sea salt can decrease blood pressure on average. Both magnesium and potassium promote healthy blood pressure by maintaining water balance and blood vessel relaxation.

Any heart condition benefits from reducing or eliminating sugar. sugar increases insulin and an overabundance of insulin has a detrimental effect on blood vessels. The wrong types of fats are also harmful to blood vessels. Processed food, snack foods, fried foods, and trans fats all contain fats that harm the body. Use coconut oil and olive oil and sesame oil instead. Try fresh salad dressing made with flax oil and lemon.  Add raw nuts and seeds to your diet for beneficial fats as well as more fish. Avoiding processed and packaged foods also reduces excess sodium intake.

Smoking, caffeine and stress are major factors in the development of high blood pressure. Both cigarette and caffeine cause blood vessels to constrict. Stress also increases blood pressure so make time to relax. Balance work and home life, practice deep breathing and get adequate sleep. Exercise is great for the cardiovascular system. If you have heart disease walking, cycling, and swimming are all very beneficial.

Support a healthy cardiovascular system with supplements. Fish oil provides essential omega 3 fats, which reduce inflammation and support circulation. Vitamin K2 is very important to move calcium out of the blood and into the bones. Otherwise calcium may deposit in the blood vessels and contribute to hypertension.

Blood pressure is regulated by the kidney, which either retain or eliminate minerals and water as necessary through the urinary system. If weakened, the kidneys lose their balancing power and blood pressure may rise.
